The label must be built!
Music is art. But the modern music machine is built only on streams and YouTube views. Both a valid way to share your music but where has the tactile thrill of owning that piece of art gone? There are music fans who have never known the thrill of buying the latest single from that essential new band they just discovered. They have never poured over the sleeve, revelling in the images and consuming every bit of text to help explore the world that created the art they now hold in their hands. They have never tried to decode the enigmatic etchings in the runouts or thrilled a that smell of fresh vinyl. They have never had that moment of expectation when the needle hits the groove for the first time and they are about to lose themselves in the bliss of the best music they have heard today, or maybe they bemoan the new track and insisit that "it's not as good as their last single."
Gone are the days of the auture label, owned by eccentric mavericks who curated that cavalcade of creativity and released records that meant something. If you followed a label, you got to be part of their gang. Part of that cult. A cult where you knew there were other believers, all shimmering with the same light.
Factory. Creation. Postcard. Two Tone. 4AD.
These were labels that meant something. Whose logo was a mark of quality (or maybe of quixotic enthusiasm for the most enigmatic artists.) But either way you knew they meant it. You knew they felt the same way you did. You knew you were part of their cult.
Those days are gone.
We want to change that...
